The Standing Liberty Quarter was released in 1916 to replace the Barber Quarter. Even though this coin was immediately beloved upon release, the Standing Liberty Quarter was modified to make the design a little sharper and more clear. This happened without designer Herman Macneil knowing. Over the course of the Standing Liberty Quarter series there were multiple types of the design changes.
The Standing Liberty Quarter’s design consists of Liberty depicted as warrior type figure, she's holding a shield as if she is defending our country and our freedom. Lady Liberty is further depicted holding an olive branch in the other hand as she struts through a doorway or gateway. The walls on either side of her have “In God we trust” engraved on them. Moreover, the walls also have 13 stars that are being dissected by the gateway. The word Liberty levitates above everything on the coin. The reverse is an eagle in mid flight and eagle is surrounded by 13 stars. In 1917 the design was changed to have 5 stars on each side of the eagle and 3 stars underneath it.
The Standing Liberty Quarter was minted from 1916-1930. It was minted in Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. The mint mark can be found under the lowest of the left column of stars on the obverse. Some of the key mintages of the Standing Liberty Quarter are the following:

Each Standing Liberty Quarter has a denomination of .25c, has a diameter of 24.3mm, and contains .18084 troy ounces of silver. Furthermore, the Standing Liberty Quarter is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper and has a reeded edge. Collectors often buy Standing Liberty Quarters in circulated rolls for the silver content or certified by PCGS or NGC.
