1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter

1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter

The 1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter had a small mintage of just over 1.3 million coins struck at the San Francisco Mint. There wasn’t a Denver issue of the Standing Liberty Quarter in 1923. The 1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter is a valuable coin that can be difficult to find in the highest Mint State grades. It’s possible to locate in some circulated and uncirculated grades, and is more affordable in these lower grades compared to some of the others in the series.

History of the 1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter

The 1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter has a low mintage for any coin in any series. The low mintage oftentimes meant that collectors would save rolls of Mint State coins, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with this one, as it is difficult to locate the highest grades of the 1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter. The obverse of the coin features Lady Liberty holding a shield in one hand and an olive branch in the other while wearing chain mail armor on her body. She stands in some form of gateway that features 13 stars and the words “In God We Trust” dividing the walls. The reverse of the coin features an American Bald Eagle in flight with 13 stars surrounding it.

1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter Value
