1967 Special Mint US Mint Set (5 pc) - OGP
Regular Proof sets were noticably missing from the mid 1960s. This was due to the moving of manufacturing of Proof sets from Philadelphia to San Francisco, causing regular production to halt until 1968! 1965-1967 however brought us a different set to make up for the lack of Proofs. The Mint created the Special Mint Set (SMS) to satisfy collectors.
This set included a Penny, Nickel, Dime, Quarter, and Kennedy Half Dollar. The coins included have a special almost satin finish that is finer than your average Uncirculated coin but not as refined as a Proof. This in-between finish was the perfect intermediary while Proof production was halted. You will receive (1) 1967 Special Mint Set in its original government packaging! This was the LAST year the Special Mint Set was issued, and is great for any collection!
