The Peace Dollar was minted from 1921 to 1935 with a 6 year hiatus in 1928, to symbolize peace after the end of World War I. Designer Anthony de Francisci won the competition to find designs emblematic of peace for use on a silver dollar. The obverse shows a stunning design of of Liberty in profile, with the reverse featuring our nation's Bald Eagle clutching an olive branch of peace.
As the last circulated silver dollar, these coins are popular with collectors and rarely in nice condition. These 1923 Peace Dollars have been certified by NGC to be in a stunning GEM Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Considering it's almost 100 years old, thats incredible!
