Collect the 2017 Burnished Silver Eagle coin, available in perfect condition. Burnished Eagle coins are 1 troy oz. .999 pure silver, and made from burnished silver blanks. Struck at the West Point Mint, each has the "W" mintmark and displays a beautiful satin finish that distinguishes it from the Proof Silver Eagle collection. Before 2006, American Silver Eagles were available in two finishes, but the Burnish Silver Eagle started as a 20th anniversary to the coin series. The 2017 mintage is 139,610. Each Burnished Silver Eagle undergoes a unique coining process, resulting in a satin finish and distinct luster. The silver blanks get polished using steel balls, before being hand placed in the coining press. Once struck, the coin is removed by hand and immediately sealed.
The 2017 Burnished Silver Eagle has a Mint State (MS) 70 grade. Mint State refers to coins struck in the same way as circulation issues. Meanwhile, 70 is the highest grade assigned, with no post-production imperfections, even at 5x magnification. The coin has a $1 US face value, backed by the US government, and comes in a protective display case. Each Burnished Silver Eagle coin includes patriotic designs on both sides. The front depicts Adolph A. Weinman's Walking Liberty, with Liberty walking towards the horizon, right arm outstretched. She wears the American flag draped around her shoulders. On the reverse, the US heraldic eagle, pictured in front of a shield and grasping 13 arrows in its left claws.
West Point Mint is typically the only mint that strikes the Burnished Silver Eagle coins, and every coin has the desirable "W" mintmark. However, in 2011 a burnished american silver eagle was struck at San Fransisco. Since 2006, all uncirculated Silver Eagle coins with the "W" mintmark have a burnished finish. The 2017 Burnished Silver Eagle is one of the lowest mintage annual Silver Eagle coins, making it highly collectible. It is an excellent collector's piece at an affordable price.
