The 1992 Silver Eagle proof coin was minted in San Francisco and includes the ‘S’ mintmark on the reverse. 1992 was the last year that proofs were minted at the San Francisco facility. In later dates, the coin was minted in Philadelphia and the West point. In 1992, 498,543 proof coins were struck.
The coin's obverse was designed using Adolf Wiedman's walking half dollar design. The reverse was created by United States Mint 12th chief engraver John Mercanti.
