History and Description

Featuring a reeded edge and face value of one dollar, this 1990-S American Silver Eagle Proof PCGS PR70 DCAM is considered legal tender in the U.S. It boasts a composition of 99.9% silver, diameter of 40.6mm, and weight of 31.101g.

This coin’s obverse side depicts the classic Walking Liberty design that first appeared on Walking Liberty Half Dollars in 1916. German-American sculptor and engraver Adolphe A. Weinman created the design for Lady Liberty striding toward the rising sun. The design remains one of the most iconic of all American coin engravings. As Liberty outstretches her arm toward the sun, her other arm is clutching branches of laurel and oak, which are symbolic of American glory. Her blowing hair and detailed gown are examples of this coin’s intricate artistry.

The reverse side of this 1990-S American Silver Eagle coins shows the classic heraldic American bald eagle. It’s been updated for this series by sculptor John Mercanti. It, too, is notable for its design intricacy.
