The 2023 Real Heroes - Coastguard is the 4th issue of the popular Real Hero's series. The coin pays tribute to rescue swimmers all over the world, especially those serving in the United States Coast Guard. As one of the six military services, its members have fulfilled their unique duty as both a security and humanitarian force protecting America in domestic and international waters for over 100 years. To this day, these real heroes save countless lives in need, true to their motto "So others may live".
The obverse features a Coast Guard rescuer descending reaching out to rescue a struggling fisherman from the water. Also included is a right facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscription "ONLY THE BRAVE ARE FREE".
The reverse features a Coast Guard member in the water wearing a scuba mask and helmet in ultra high relief.
