2017 Burnished Silver Eagle

Burnished silver eagles are a "special issue" coin, which was first created in 2006 to mark the Silver Eagle Program's twentieth anniversary. These coins are struck annually using specially burnished blanks, which are sandblasted to achieve a mirror-like finish. They are very popular with collectors worldwide and are one of the U.S Mints most sought after coin.

The Burnished Silver Eagle is a highly collectible version of the Bullion Coin. The Burnished coins have a "W" mintmark, which shows that it's been struck at the Mint in West Point.

American Silver Eagle Coins design

Adolph A. Weinman created the design used on this coin’s obverse in 1916. It was initially designed for the half dollar coin, which was circulated between 1916 and 1947. The design includes a hopeful Lady Liberty walking towards a sunrise. This represents the dawning of a new era and a brighter future for America. Liberty is draped in an American flag and carries branches of laurel, oak, and olive in her arms to represent freedom, peace, and military glory.

The coins reverse was designed in 1985 by Mint engraver John Mercanti. It features an iconic bald eagle with a shield. The eagle is holding an olive branch in its right talon and an arrow in the left.

Silver Eagle Coins Value

The 2017-W burnished silver eagle is the tenth burnished coin in the series. Burnished coins were first minted in 2006, which was the inaugural year. In 2009 and 2010, there were no burnished coins minted. This was due to the economic recession, which caused greater demand for regular issue bullion silver eagle coins.

The 2017-W Burnished Silver Eagle is worth approximately $120; this coin is rare and collectible and will make a great addition to your coin collection. These coins are worth between $100 and $300, depending on the year they were minted.
