American silver eagle history

1994 Silver Eagle proofs are struck using .999 fine silver; they are sought after by dealers, investors, and coin collectors. The silver eagle is a beautifully designed coin that features the obverse of the Walking Liberty half dollar. Silver eagles are widely recognized and collected around the world.

The obverse was designed by Adolph Weinman in 1916. It features Lady Liberty walking towards the sunrise while carrying an American flag; this symbolizes that the American nation was moving towards a brighter future. The design also represents freedom and independence.

The reverse was created in 1985 by John Mercanti. It features an eagle and shield, as well as stars that represent the founding states of America. The eagle is holding an olive branch in its talons, which represents peace and freedom.

In 1994, 372,168 coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this was a lot less than in previous years. Due to the stable economy, fewer people were buying silver in the early nineties, leading to less proof coins being minted. The 1994-P proof is therefore considered relatively rare and worth collecting. Proof coins such as the 1994-P Proof have a mirror-like finish and a high level of detail.

Silver eagle coins Value

1994 Silver Eagle Proof coins are valued at around $1300 as they are a rare collector coin. Proof coins from other dates are worth slightly less as they were minted in larger numbers.
