1965 (SMS) Special Mint Set - 5pc
The mid 1960s was a busy time for the U.S. Mint. They moved manufacturing of Proof sets from Philadelphia to San Francisco, causing regular production to halt until 1968. In the meantime from 1965-1967 however, the Mint created a new type of set to satisfy collectors - the Special Mint Set (SMS). This set included a Penny, Nickel, Dime, Quarter, and Kennedy Half Dollar. The coins included have a special finish that is finer than your average Uncirculated coin but not as refined as a Proof. You will receive (1) 1965 Special Mint Set in its original government packaging! This is an affordable and nostalgic gift for both new collectors and veterans alike.
