1944-D Mercury Dime
The 1944-D Mercury Dime had a total mintage of over 62 million coins struck at the Denver Mint. This was a relatively high mintage and this coin is plentiful and possible to find in some of the highest grades up to about Mint State 68. History of the 1944-D Mercury Dime
The 1944-D Mercury Dime is a coin worth cherrypicking to find one that is sharply struck with great overall eye appeal. This Denver minted coin features the ‘D’ mint mark on the bottom of the reverse of the coin. The reverse also features a fasces, which is a bundle of rods with an ax protruding, and it is wrapped in an olive branch symbolizing peace. The obverse of the coin depicts a younger Lady Liberty. She wears a winged cap on her head that is thought to symbolize “liberty of thought.” Adolph A. Weinman designed the Mercury Dime as well as the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.

This is a very affordable coin in Mint State 68 and Full Band versions which makes it more accessible for numismatists on a tighter budget.
