It's the 100th Anniversary of the 1923 Peace Dollar! The Peace Dollar was struck to replace the Morgan Silver Dollar as a symbol of peace after the end of World War I. It was struck from 1921-1928, and then from 1934-1935. The striking and iconic imagery Lady Liberty and an eagle of peace was designed by famous designer Anthony de Francisci. His designs won the U.S. Mint's contest to search for the best designs that were emblematic of peace for this new silver dollar. Now 100 years after the third year of issue, the Peace Dollar remains a popular staple amongst collectors.
