1908 Barber Dime

1908 Barber Dime

The 1908 Barber Dime had a total mintage of 10.6 million coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint. In 1908, production of the Barber Dime dropped off somewhat. The 1908 Barber Dime has almost half less than the previous year, but still over 10 million coins struck, which is a decent size for this series. The 1908 Barber Dime is still relatively easy to find in Mint State grades, but commands a higher premium than the previous year.

History of the 1908 Barber Dime

The 1908 Barber Dime is a beautiful coin that represents the typically excellent craftsmanship from the Philadelphia Mint. The majority of these coins are well-struck with a luster that ranges from brilliant to soft and creamy. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1908 Barber Dime Value

The 1908 Barber Dime value reaches upwards of $17,000 for some of the highest grades available for this coin. Most of the Mint State examples of this coin exist in MS63, MS64, and MS66, with a few in MS67. The 1908 Barber Dime is a beautiful coin that would make a valuable addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
