1908-O Barber Dime
The 1908-O Barber Dime had a total mintage of just over 1.7 million coins struck at the New Orleans Mint. This coin features the ‘O’ mint mark on the bottom of the reverse of the coin and is a sought after mint mark within the series. While the 1908-O Barber Dime had the smallest mintage out of the four Barber Dimes issued in this year, it is only the 3rd rarest. It is possible to find this coin in mid-range Mint State grades, and it’s also possible to find in some of the higher Mint State grades at accessible prices.
History of the 1908-O Barber Dime
The 1908-O Barber Dime typically comes well-struck with above-average craftsmanship. While it has a small mintage, it is worthwhile to cherrypick for your ideal coin whenever possible. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.
