1906 Barber Dime

1906 Barber Dime

The 1906 Barber Dime had a total mintage of just under 20 million coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This is one of the most plentiful coins in the entire series and can be very affordable in circulated and many uncirculated Mint State grades. The coin can command higher prices for some of the highest grades of the coin. This is the third largest mintage in the series, allowing collectors the opportunity to choose from hundreds of Mint State examples.

History of the 1906 Barber Dime

The 1906 Barber Dime is typically a well-struck coin, but weaker strikes do exist so cherrypicking is advised to ensure a sharply struck coin with nice detailing and toning. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1906 Barber Dime Value

The 1906 Barber Dime value reaches upwards of $42,000 for some of the highest grades of the coin available. It’s possible to build a Barber Dime collection at more affordable prices by looking for circulated and lower grade Mint State examples. The 1906 Barber Dime would make an excellent addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
