1903-O Barber Dime
The 1903-O Barber Dime had a total mintage of just over 8.1 million coins struck at the New Orleans Mint. This is a plentiful coin, although not quite as plentiful as the 1903. During this year, the mints increased the number of coins struck. The 1903-O Barber Dime is relatively easy to find in most circulated grades and lower Mint State grades up to about MS63 and MS64. The coins become a rarity in grades higher than MS66, but they are possible to find and will command a premium.
History of the 1903-O Barber Dime
The 1903-O Barber Dime features the ‘O’ mint mark, and the New Orleans minted Barber Dimes are typically more popular and sought after than the Philadelphia coins. This coin has an excellent strike, almost on par with the Philadelphia Mint issues, and definitely better than previous Barber Dimes from this mint. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.
