1902 Barber Dime
The 1902 Barber Dime had a total mintage of over 21 million coins from the Philadelphia Mint. This was a plentiful coin that is relatively easy to find in most circulated and uncirculated grades. While this was a larger mintage for the Barber Dime series, it can be more difficult to find in some of the higher Mint State grades. It wasn’t until a few years later when a mintage this large would become more commonplace.
History of the 1902 Barber Dime
The 1902 Barber Dime is worth cherrypicking to find a coin that is well-struck, has great eye appeal, and attractive surfaces. With the general abundance of this coin, prices are lower than some of the others in the series. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.
1902 Barber Dime Value
The 1902 Barber Dime value reaches upwards of $5,800 for MS67 examples, which are some of the highest examples available for the coin. The higher the grade for this Barber Dime, the higher the premium because it is a rarity above MS67. Choose the 1902 Barber Dime with care and you’ll have an excellent addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
