1901-S Barber Dime
The 1901-S Barber Dime had a total mintage of just over 593,000 coins struck at the San Francisco Mint. This was a small mintage for the series as well as for the San Francisco Mint. It was, in fact, the smallest mintage of any Barber Dime from 1896 to 1913. It’s possible to find the 1901-S Barber Dime in circulated and Mint State grades. Many higher Mint State examples in this coin, and are sufficient to meet collector demands.
History of the 1901-S Barber Dime
The 1901-S Barber Dime is an exciting coin due to its small mintage and popularity, but the availability of this coin in higher Mint State grades keeps the prices of this coin relatively accessible, making it a valuable coin. It is typically well-struck with a luster ranging from brilliant to frosty. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.
