1893-O Barber Dime
The 1893-O Barber Dime had a total mintage of over 1.7 million coins struck at the New Orleans Mint. This was a smaller mintage for this coin, but not the smallest. All the same, it was still difficult to find in the highest Mint State grades. The 1893-O Barber Dime is a valuable coin that can be found with attractive surfaces and a sharp strike if collectors look hard enough to find them.
History of the 1893-O Barber Dime
The 1893-O Barber Dime is possible to find well-struck, and costs slightly less for some of the highest grades compared to some of the other coins in the series this far. This is the second year of issue of the Barber Dime at the New Orleans Mint and features the “O” mint mark on the reverse of the coin. The Barber Dime is part of the Barber coinage era. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.
