On March 3rd, 1865 Abraham Lincoln signed off on the production of the Three Cent Nickel. The coin was only produced for a short time from 1865-1889. It is one of only two Three Cent Pieces ever produced. Many of these were melted down in 1889 to be reissued as a Five Cent Nickel the next year, which just adds to the rarity and collectibility of these pieces. This is a must have for any serious coin collector!
