Seated Liberty Half Dollar Value
Beloved by the people of its era, the Seated Liberty Half Dollar was minted and in circulation for a long time! The second half dollar ever minted by the U.S. mint was not only loved by the people of the 19th century, it's also loved by the collectors today. The Seated Liberty Half Dollar’s elegant design was created by Christian Gobrecht. The obverse consisted of a full body figure of liberty resting on a rock, wearing a dress that flowed down. Lady Liberty held a liberty pole, and a striped shield leaned on the front side of the rock. This obverse designed was used for all of the Seated Liberty coinage. The reverse of the coin slightly changed a number of times, but always had a proud eagle spreading its wings, wearing a striped breast plate.
The Seated Liberty Half Dollar was minted in 1839 to 1891. Each coin was minted in either Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco or Carson City. Some key dates of the Seated Liberty Half Dollar were the following:
