The Liberty Head $2.5 Gold coin is a  classic coin that was minted from 1840 to 1907. This coin was minted for almost 60 years and is still loved by everyone. It’s design is so simple, yet elegant. The Liberty Head $2.5 Gold coin’s design consists of a figure of Liberty facing left. On lady liberty's head is a head band that has the word “Liberty” inscribed on it. Lady Liberty is surrounded by 13 six point stars, that represent the 13 original colonies. On the reverse lies an eagle spreading its wings, with a striped shield fixed to its chest like armor, holding a bundle of arrows and a branch of olive. 

The Liberty Head $2.5 Gold coin was minted in Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dahlonega, and New Orleans mints. Although all versions of this coin that were kept in good condition are sought after, there are some that are more popular than others. The key dates in this series include the following:

Each $2.5 Gold Liberty Head is composed of 90% gold and 10% copper, weighs 4.18 grams, and has a diameter of 18mm. Moreover, each $2.5 Gold Liberty Head coin has .12094 troy ounces of melt gold. Another interesting fact about the $2.5 Gold Liberty Head coin is that was that the Dahlonega mint located in Georgia struck these coins for a while. Each coin carried the D mint mark, which is now used by solely the Denver Mint.
