Bronze tetradrachm of King Azes II of Bactria, identified by historians as having sent one of the three magi, or wise men, to pay homage to the baby Jesus. Bactria, present day Afghanistan, was ruled by King Azes II from 35 B.C. to A.D. 5. He was a political descendant of Alexander the Great, who brought Greek culture to the East. Much of Azes' coinage was issued before the birth of Christ, but some had to be struck on the day of Jesus' birth, and all were in circulation when Jesus lived. This stunning bronze coin comes in a display along with a detailed story card and certificate of authenticity.
