2013-W American Silver Eagle Proof

The Silver Eagle Program was started in 1986 to make bullion coin investing fairer and more popular. America wanted to create a bullion coin with worldwide appeal as it was previously considered unlawful to own gold and silver. The silver eagle was designed to compete with bullion of other countries, including Canada and South Africa.

Today the American Silver Eagle is one of the most sought-after coins on the market. This 2013 Silver Eagle was minted at the West Point mint and includes the ‘W’ mintmark on the back of the coin. This coin has been certified in perfect grade by world-recognized PCGS and is a must-have for any coin collection. Modern Silver Eagle coins are rare and affordable.

American Silver Eagle history

The 2013 Silver Eagle proof coin was very popular with coin collectors and investors. The silver eagle was first minted in 1986, and proof coins continue to be minted to this day. These coins are made from 0.999-fine silver and are sold via the mint for an affordable price.

The American Silver Eagle coins obverse feature the famous Walking Liberty half dollar design, which was created in 1916 by Adolph Weinman. This is an iconic image that is stunning and is often considered the most beautiful coin in American coinage, if not in the world. The coins reverse depicts an eagle and shield and was designed in 1985 by John Mercanti.

In 2013 a total of 44,376,000 coins were minted in different varieties. This included 918,680 2013-W proof coins, which were sold for $65.

Silver Eagle Coins value

2013-W proof coins are now valued at approximately $120, almost twice what they were initially sold for. Proof coins from other years are worth roughly the same. Some earlier coins from the ’80s and ’90s are rarer and more collectible and fetch higher prices at auction.
