The 2012-P $1 Grover Cleveland (24th Presidency) Presidential Dollar is a historically significant coin, part of the U.S. Mint's Presidential Dollar Coin Program. This particular issue is especially noteworthy as it honors Grover Cleveland's unique status as the only U.S. President to serve two non-consecutive terms, making him the only President to appear on two different Presidential Dollar coins. The 2012 issuance celebrates his second term as the 24th President of the United States. DESIGNER: Don Everhart EDGE: Lettered DIAMETER: 26.50 millimeters WEIGHT: 8.10 grams MINTAGE: 10,680,000 MINT: Philadelphia METAL: 77% Copper, 12% Zinc, 1% other over a pure Copper core *Mixed positions. On Presidential Dollars, the edge lettering of the coins can either face up or down. Position A indicates the coins edge can be read correctly, only when the coins obverse is facing down or if the reverse side is facing up. Minted at the Philadelphia Mint, as denoted by the 'P' mint mark, the coin features a detailed and accurate portrait of Grover Cleveland on the obverse. This engraving captures Cleveland's stern expression and the late 19th-century style, reflective of his time in office during his second term. The name "Grover Cleveland" is inscribed above the portrait, clearly identifying the President. Below the image, the inscriptions "24th President" and "1893-1897" indicate the years of his second term. On the reverse side, the coin presents the iconic Statue of Liberty, a consistent design element across the Presidential Dollar series. The "$1" denomination is shown below Liberty's right arm, confirming the coin's face value. The phrase "United States of America" encircles this design, underscoring its national significance.
