Silver Eagle Coins Design
The 2011-W Burnished Silver Eagle has been minted using a highly polished blank that contains .999 fine silver. The coin has a diameter of 40.60mm and features the same design as all the other American Eagle coins in the series.
The coin's obverse features the Walking Liberty that was designed for the half dollar coin in 1916 by Adolph Weinman. The design features Liberty walking purposefully towards a new day, which is symbolized by an image of a sunrise. This represents America as a nation moving towards a bright, new future.
The coin's reverse has an eagle and shield design created by US Mint engraver John Mercanti.
