These coins are a special treat for your collection! The Special Mint Set was a limited-edition series of coin sets produced by the U.S. Mint from 1965 to 1967. During this period, the mint transitioned the production of proof coins from Philadelphia to San Francisco, resulting in a brief hiatus in the annual proof set production. To address collectors' needs, the U.S. Mint introduced the Special Mint Set, featuring coins with a distinct finish that falls between the Uncirculated and Proof finishes. The set included a Penny, Nickel, Dime, Quarter, and Kennedy Half Dollar. This roll of coins includes 50 SMS Lincoln Cents dated from 1965-1967. Each coin was recovered from a well-loved collection, and even after all these years each penny is still in GEM Uncirculated condition! This means if they were sent in to be graded, they would grade at least MS65.
