History of the 1945-D Mercury Dime
The 1945-D Mercury Dime was designed by Adolph A. Weinman. He was also the designer of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. This coin features the ‘D’ mint mark on the reverse of the coin, which also depicts a fasces wrapped in an olive branch. The obverse of the coin features a younger version of Lady Liberty wearing a winged cap on her head. The cap is said to symbolize “liberty of thought.” The 1945-D Mercury Dime is worth the effort to cherrypick and find your ideal coin.
