1914-D Barber Dime

The 1914-D Barber Dime had a total mintage of just under 12 million coins struck at the Denver Mint. This was a decent sized mintage that makes this coin more plentiful in both circulated and Mint State grades. The majority of this coin lands somewhere between MS62 and MS64, and the 1914-D Barber Dime becomes rare in MS67. This was the last year that the Denver Mint produced any Barber Dimes, adding a touch of uniqueness to this coins history. 

 

History of the 1914-D Barber Dime

The 1914-D Barber Dime is an affordable coin that is worth the effort to cherrypick for a coin with a sharp strike and attractive surfaces. This coin features the ‘D’ mint mark on the bottom of the reverse of the coin. Charles Barber designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

It’s possible to build a more affordable Barber Dime collection by seeking out circulated and lower Mint State grade coins.
