1911 Barber Dime

1911 Barber Dime

The 1911 Barber Dime had a total mintage of over 18.8 million coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This was a massive increase from the previous year. This is one of the most plentiful and common dates available in the series, followed behind the first and last year of issue dates. It’s possible to find plenty of examples to choose from in circulated and uncirculated grades, and this is one of the rarities in the series that can be found in the MS68+ grade which commanded quite a premium.

History of the 1911 Barber Dime

The 1911 Barber Dime is a beautiful coin that is worth the effort to cherrypick through and find a well-struck coin with attractive details. The Philadelphia Mint was known for its excellent craftsmanship and this coin lives up to the expectation. Charles Barber designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1911 Barber Dime Value

The 1911 Barber Dime value has reached upwards of $30,000 which was for the premium MS68+ example. Many of the coins in this issue can be found at more affordable prices in circulated and lower to mid-range Mint State grades. You can’t go wrong with this coin. The 1911 Barber Dime would make a valuable and beautiful addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
