1907-S Barber Dime

1907-S Barber Dime

The 1907-S Barber Dime had a total mintage of over 3 million coins struck at the San Francisco Mint. This coin has the smallest mintage out of the Barber Dimes struck and issued in this year. The 1907-S Barber Dime is scarce, and is on mostly equal footing with the scarcity of the 1907-D Barber Dime. While a few dozen Mint State examples of this coin exist, it’s difficult or believed impossible to find in grades above MS66.

History of the 1907-S Barber Dime

When looking for your ideal 1907-S Barber Dime, cherrypicking is advised. On some examples of this coin, there is sometimes softness around Lady Liberty’s mouth, some of the lower leaves on the wreath, and on the lettering on the reverse of the coin. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1907-S Barber Dime Value

The 1907-S Barber Dime value reaches upwards of around $8,000 for some of the highest grades available of the coin. While it’s difficult to find this coin in higher Mint State grade, it’s possible to find gorgeous examples with attractive surfaces and a sharp strike. The 1907-S Barber Dime would make a great addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
