1904-S Barber Dime

1904-S Barber Dime

The 1904-S Barber Dime had a total mintage of just 800,000. This was a higher mintage than the past couple of years, but still a small mintage below 1 million coins. The 1904-S Barber Dime features the ‘S’ mint mark that is popular among collectors, and, due to the small mintage, this coin is scarce. Most examples don’t reach higher than an MS62 to MS64 grade, although small numbers of the MS65 and MS66 are believed to still exist.

History of the 1904-S Barber Dime

The 1904-S Barber Dime is a valuable coin that is worth finding with great overall eye appeal and a solid strike. Cherrypicking is possible, but this coin doesn’t typically reach higher Mint State grades, so going in with proper expectations is important. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1904-S Barber Dime Value

The 1904-S Barber Dime value reaches upwards of $11,000 for some of the higher Mint State grades found on the market today. While this coin is scarce, it’s worth the effort to find one to add to your collection. The 1904-S Barber Dime is a popular coin that would make an excellent addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
