Named after its designer George T. Morgan, the Morgan Silver Dollar initially began production in 1878. This would continue until 1904, when the series was forced to stop temporarily because of a nation-wide silver shortage crisis. This problem was solved by the Pittman Act, which was passed in 1918 and allowed for the U.S. government to spend hundreds of millions of dollars buying and melting down silver, that would then be used to create more coins, and thus extending the Morgan Silver Dollar series into 1921, this time including the Denver Mint. 1921 was not only a special year for the aforementioned reasons, but because the Peace Silver Dollar was simultaneously being produced as well. The 1903-P Morgan Silver Dollar had a mintage of 4,652,000, which just barely makes it the most produced Morgan Dollar for the year of 1903, beating the San Francisco and New Orleans Mints, which had produced 4,450,000 and 1,241,000 respectively. The 1903-P Morgan Silver Dollar in brilliant uncirculated condition is now for sale by Bullion Shark for only $88 and can be purchased both online from our website and over the phone by speaking with a numismatic expert from our team (516-739-5822). This very coin in MS 65 condition is valued at approximately $225.
