Collect a numismatic history lesson with this incredible WWII Penny Set! After the United States of America joined the fight in World War II after the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the war effort had widespread impact on every aspect of American life. Circulating coinage was surprisingly affected by the war. Certain metals like nickel and copper were critial for manufacturing munitions, so they were rationed for the war effort. Pennies were traditionally struck with copper, so an interesting solution was made.

In 1943, Lincoln Cents were struck entirely out of steel, turning the classic red-brown coin a cool silver color. This anomaly only lasted for one year, making the 1943 Steel Penny a standout issue in the Lincoln Penny series. This set includes one Lincoln Cent from all five years of World War II, collected together in a coin wallet with detailed information about the coins and a certificate of authenticity. This collection also includes a bonus Indian Head Penny—the copper cent series that collectors love, which was replaced by the Lincoln cent in 1909. This is an incredible set showcasing a tumultuous period in American history that is perfect for any coin collection.
