Peter The Great was truly a prolific ruler. Under his reign from 1689 to 1825, Russia experienced a cultural revolution, grew from nation to empire, from remote backwater to powerhouse. In 1721, he took the title Emperor of All Russia. He was the last Tsar to strike wire money coins. As the name suggests, small bits of wire were struck on planchets to create coins, however they were very small and irregular, many not even showing the full design. His coins went from 0.38 g to 0.28 g by 1698. This wire money coin is certified to be authentic and from the reign of Peter the Great. Packaged with a story card in a clear display box, this is a fantastic example of Eastern numismatic history.
