These Blank Planchet Errors are what collectors dream about finding in their pocket change or after a coin machine haul! When coins are created at the mint, they start out as large sheets of metal, then the blank rounds are punched out. Then, they go through an "upsetting machine" which adds the rims to the blanks. Once these rims are added, they are considered planchets. Normally these planchets are then struck with the obverse and reverse dies to create the legal tender coin, however blank planchets somehow escape that process!
Planchets are not legal tender money, but they can end up in vending machines because they are still the proper size and weight as a finished coin. This set of blank planchet error coins in particular are from the Northeast Error Collection, and includes a Lincoln Cent planchet, Roosevelt Dime planchet, and Washington Quarter. They each have been certified by NGC to be in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These kinds of unfinished error coins are so rare to find, and go for the big bucks! Can you believe you can get 3 error coins for so cheap? Don't miss out!
