Product Description

Theodosius the Great, was the last emperor to rule over both the eastern and the western halves of the Roman Empire. He was selected by Gratian to lead the army, and then assume the throne once his brother-in-law Valentinian II died in 392. He successfully defeated the usurper Magnus Maximus that had troubled Valentinian II. Theodosius I was also responsible for making Orthodox Nicene Christianity the official state church of the Roman Empire. Through his efforts, Christianity would begin to spread even faster throughout the Empire and surrounding regions. This Bronze Nummus featuring the bust portrait of Theodosius the Great is an excellent piece that represents the early spread of Christianity! Add this stunning piece that features an exclusive Coins of the Romans label to your collection today!
