This Ancient Greek coin is full of lush history. Hieron II served as Tyrant of Syracuse from 270-215 BC. He was an illegitimate son of Hierocles, a Syracusan noble. From 263-215 BC, he was an important ally for Rome in the Punic war, providing them with both men and supplies. 

The coin's obverse the fearsome Greek God Poseidon. He is depicted as a young man with curly hair, statuesque in appearance. The reverse features Poseidon's Trident framed on both sides by dolphins, which was a common motif for the God. This piece has not only survived for 2,200 years, but it has stayed in amazing condition. NGC has certified this in Very Fine (VF) condition, which means it shows nearly complete details!
