Her hair is flowing behind her in the breeze, symbolizing progress as she moves forward amidst a backdrop of radiant sun rays.
Reverse: A bold close-up portrait of an eagle, designed by Jennie Norris. This design is the first new design introduced in 2021 since the series began in 1986.
The United States Mint revealed updated American Eagle Gold Type 2 reverse designs in 2021. 2021 marked the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle coin program, and the designs began appearing on these coins in mid-year 2021. Jennie Norris, U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) designer, created the Gold coin design that was sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Renata Gordon. The obverse has been revised with additional detail from the original design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens to enhance this classic image.
The reverse design depicts a bold, up-close portrait of an eagle. Certified Acceptance Corporation (CAC) has long been known as a Far Hills, New Jersey third-party coin certification company started in 2007 by coin dealer John Albanese. Coins deemed higher end for their grade are given a green sticker, which can add premiums to the coins value.
