History and Description

The 2018 Silver Eagle Proof - NGC PF70 UCAM is made from one troy ounce of 99.9% fine silver. The coin features a reeded edge and weight of 31.01g. Like the coins in this series, it celebrates the original eagle design for U.S. coins by Robert Scot in 1796.

The obverse side of the 2018-W American Silver Eagle Proof coin features the re-issued design of Walking Liberty Half Dollar first created in 1916 by the German-American sculptor / engraver Adolphe A. Weinman. The design shows beautiful Lady Liberty standing before the sun. One arm is outstretched toward the distant horizon. The other holds sprays of laurel and oak, traditional symbols of American glory. The word “liberty” is boldly etched above her head. This side is also engraved with the motto “In God We Trust” and the coin’s year of issue.

The reverse side, of course, features the heraldic American eagle design that has been updated by sculptor John Mercanti. The eagle’s wings are boldly outstretched. Above its head are 13 stars  that signify America’s original 13 colonies.

Silver Eagle Pricing

This 2018-W American Silver Eagle Proof - NGC PF70 UCAM can be regarded as legal tender in the United States. The coin’s face value as etched on its reverse side is 1 oz fine silver dollar. The market value for this coin is apt to be influenced by the market value of silver as well as its collectibility as a rare American coin.
