2015 $50 Gold Buffalo Coin

2015 $50 Gold Buffalo Coin

The 2015 $50 Gold Buffalo coin had a total mintage of over 220,000 coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This was a large mintage, one of the bigger ones in the series, making this a relatively easy coin to find in the highest grades, although the highest perfect Mint State coin can be a little more difficult to find. Examples appear most common in MS68 and MS69, and the 2015 1 oz American Gold Buffalo is typically a beautifully struck coin, as was common for the excellent craftsmanship that came out of the Philadelphia Mint.

History of the 1 oz Gold Buffalo Coin

This is the ninth year that the Gold Buffalo was struck. The 2015 1 oz Gold Buffalo is worth the effort to find well-struck with attractive surfaces. This is one of the most beloved designs out of any coin series and is an adaptation of the Type 1 Indian Head Nickel. The Gold Buffalo was also designed by James Earle Fraser. The obverse features a Native American Chief while the reverse depicts a fully grown bison standing on a mound. As was common with regular strike, uncirculated coins out of the Philadelphia Mint, this one didn’t have a mint mark.

2015 $50 Gold Buffalo Coin Value

The 2015 $50 Buffalo Gold coin value reaches upwards of $2,000 for the highest grades.
