The obverse side of Silver Eagle coins will be easily recognizable by American coin collectors with its Adolphe A. Weinman designed Walking Liberty engraving that first appeared on the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Weinman’s celebrated design shows Liberty before a sunlit horizon. One arm is outstretched while the other holds branches of oak and laurel. Her gown and hair is blowing in the breeze. “Liberty” appears etched above her head while to her right, the motto “In God We Trust” is engraved. The coin’s year of minting appears beneath her figure.

On the reverse side of the coin, collectors will note the updated version of the heraldic American Eagle completed by sculptor John Mercanti. This side features 13 stars that are symbolic of the country’s original 13 colonies.
