History of silver eagle coins
The American Silver Eagle Coins only are available in one ounce. All American silver eagle coins minted from 2001 to 2007 were minted at the U.S. Mint at West Point and can be identified with a “W” mintmark. The Silver eagle obverse side is U.S. Mint engraver Adolph A. Weinman’s design, and John Mercanti designed the reverse. Weinman was a German-born coin designer, engraver, medalist, and sculptor that served the U.S. Mint from 1885 to 1915.
