History of the 1947-D Washington Quarter

The 1947-D Washington Quarter is valuable because of the Denver Mint mark, and it is mostly relatively common, but slightly less so than the San Francisco minted coin from the same year. It’s also a valuable coin due to its attractive surfaces and frosty luster. The Washington Quarter was designed by John Flanagan to commemorate the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s day of birth. His portrait can be found on the obverse of the coin, while the American Bald Eagle clutching a bundle of arrows, flying over an olive branch, can be found on the reverse. This Washington Quarter can be located in uncirculated, Mint State condition, and it is worthwhile to find one.
