The 1936-S Washington Quarter is one of the more popular Washington Quarters in the series. It had around 3.8 million total coins struck at the San Francisco Mint. The coins struck at the San Francisco Mint in the 1930s are Washington Quarter key dates to look out for. These coins were the rarest in the series and had some of the lowest mintages. This coin series was designed by John Flanagan. It marked the 200th anniversary of the first president of the United States, George Washington’s birthday.
