1932-D Washington Quarter

1932-D Washington Quarter

The 1932-D Washington Quarter had a very small mintage from the Denver Mint of only 436,800 coins produced. This coin is the rarest of all of the Washington Quarters in the entire series. The Washington Quarter key dates include the 1932-D Washington Quarter and the 1932-S Washington Quarter, and both are the only two in the series with below a million minted coins. This is a highly sought after coin and is a well-known key coin in the Washington Quarter series.

History of the 1932-D Washington Quarter

The 1932-D Washington Quarter was the first of the quarters struck at the Denver Mint. When a collecting boom happened after World War II, collectors were mostly focused on filling the spot of a missing coin in their collections and didn’t pay a lot of attention to the quality of the coin. Even then, looking for the 1932-D Washington Quarter posed an elusive challenge. It is believed that the Denver Minted 1932 is even more rare than the 1932-S coin minted at the San Francisco Mint.

1932-D Washington Quarter Value

The 1932-D Washington Quarter value has reached as high as $143,000 for a high grade Mint State coin, which is an extreme rarity. The majority of this Silver Washington Quarter are in low Mint State and circulated grades, and still command a higher price due to their elusiveness, demand, and the value that they add to any Washington Quarter series collection. This special coin was designed by John Flanagan and commemorates George Washington’s 200th anniversary of his birth.
