1928 $2.50 Gold Indian Head Quarter Eagle CACG MS64
- CACG Population: 32
- Population Higher: 4
- Offered BELOW CAC Price Guide Value
A beautiful survivor from the final years of America’s classic gold coinage, this 1928 $2.50 Indian Head Gold Quarter Eagle has been certified MS64 by CAC Grading. The coin displays rich, warm gold color and exceptionally clean, distraction-free surfaces that give it outstanding visual appeal for the grade.
Designed by acclaimed sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt, the $2.50 Indian is famous for its distinctive incuse design, with the portrait, lettering, and devices recessed below the coin’s surface. The obverse features a Native American chief in a feathered headdress, while the reverse depicts a proud eagle standing upon a bundle of arrows and an olive branch.
Although the Philadelphia Mint struck 416,000 examples in 1928, far fewer survive today in premium Mint State condition. CACG has certified just 32 coins in MS64, with only four graded higher, making this an appealing condition rarity for collectors of Indian gold and Pre-1933 U.S. coinage. Its current CPG Price Guide value is $1,300.
