History of the 1927-S Peace Dollar

Unlike the 1927 Peace Dollar that seemed to slip through the cracks as far as bags released are concerned, the 1927-S Peace Dollar was plentiful in roll quantities and bags released. The 1927-S Peace Silver Dollar was released directly from storage from the San Francisco Mint.

Worn 1927-S Peace Dollars are usually plentiful and easy to find. As is common with Peace dollars from the San Francisco Mint, the 1927-S Peace silver dollar is almost always weakly struck. The eagle on the reverse is typically dull with weaker details in the feathers, and the rims are sometimes weak. The 1927-S doesn’t usually suffer from bag marks, as is common with many other Peace dollars that were held in storage.
