1925-D Indian Head Gold Coin

1925-D Indian Head Gold Coin

The 1925-D Indian Head Gold Coin had a total mintage of 578,000 coins struck at the Denver Mint. This special coin features the ‘D’ mint mark on the reverse of the coin next to the standing bald eagle that is on a bundle of arrows and clutching an olive branch. The 1925-D Indian Head Gold Coin is one of the most common coins in the entire series up to about Mint State 65 or better. Above that grading it is all but impossible to find, which is true for most of the Quarter Eagle and Half Eagle coins designed by Bela Lyon Pratt.

History of the 1925-D Indian Head Quarter Eagle

The 1925-D Indian Head Quarter Eagle is a coin that requires careful searching. The luster is usually excellent for these coins, but the strike quality varies greatly. It’s possible to find beautifully struck coins, but some show an uneven strike. The dies used are believed to be the cause of a poor strike, as some buckled and were deteriorated. It was a common issue for these coins that were struck at the Denver Mint to have poorly struck coins. But they are redeemed somewhat due to the excellent luster and attractive coloring of many of the coins.

1925-D Indian Head Gold Coin Value

The 1925-D Indian Head Gold Coin value reaches upwards of $66,000 for the highest grades of this coin. This is a valuable coin despite its issues overall and can be found in spectacular condition with some careful searching and a bit of luck. The 1925-D Indian Head Quarter Eagle is worth the effort to find well-struck and would make a valuable addition to any Indian Head Gold Coin collection.
